Health monitoring cat litters compared
Health monitoring cat litters differ in three ways: the base (silica crystals, clay or plant-based tofu), what the indicator reads (urine pH, blood, or both), and whether the litter clumps. TellTail is a plant-based tofu litter that reads urine pH, forms firm clumps and is Flushable*.

How to pick
- You want both pH and blood in one litter: a crystal or clay product with both indicators.
- You want a plant-based, clumping litter that reads pH: TellTail.
- You only want a blood check in a tofu litter: a tofu litter with occult blood particles.
- You want to flush clumps: a plant-based litter labeled for it. Never flush clay or crystals.
What none of them do
No litter diagnoses a disease. A color change tells you something moved, so you can check again and talk to your vet. A cat straining in the box and passing little or no urine — especially a male cat — needs a vet the same day, whatever the litter shows.
Flushable* — TellTail’s plant-based clumps break down in water, so flush the clumps a little at a time. Place cat droppings in the trash, not the toilet. Not recommended for septic systems or older / low-flow plumbing.
